NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF NON-PREMIXED COMBUSTION INSIDE A THREE LAYERED POROUS BURNER WITH FLAMELET MODEL

چکیده
Purpose of this study is to numerically investigate combustion within a porous channel, which has three layers with different pore densities. Non-premixed inside the channel modelled thermal non-equilibrium energy equations. Flow and chemistry are decoupled tabulated using flamelets, thereby reducing computational cost. GRI 3.0 mechanism used account for methane/air combustion. Simulations performed densities at third layer in 8-30 PPI range. Also, effects power excess-air-ratio (EAR) investigated burner. Temperatures species mass fraction distributions obtained. Maximum temperature burner found be similar all cases since occurs stoichiometric conditions flame front as result non-premixed model. NOx CO emissions values simulations compared against international gas emission standards. This comparison showed that while always below standards, these limits only high excess air ratio power. Besides, density decreased, decrease strongly.

An elementary model for the validation of flamelet approximations in non-premixed turbulent combustion
The fundamental soundness of three flamelet models for non-premixed turbulent combustion is examined on the basis of their performance in an idealized model problem that merges ideas from the laminar asymptotic theory for non-premixed flames and rigorous homogenization theory for the diffusion of a passive scalar. The overall flame configuration is stabilized by a mean gradient in the passive s...
متن کاملValidation of unsteady flamelet models for non-premixed turbulent combustion with intermittency
Flamelets play an important role as subgrid models in large eddy simulations of turbulent flames: they are based on a one-dimensional steady asymptotic solution for the flame. The focus of the present study is to validate their use when unsteadiness and multidimensional effects are present, as to be expected for turbulent flows. To shortcut the prohibitively expansive step of solving the comple...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation on the Flow, Combustion and NOx Emission Characteristics in a 10 MW Premixed Gas Burner
The characteristics of the combustion temperature, flow velocity, CO distribution and NOx emissions of a 10 MW gas burner at different primary to secondary air ratios are numerically studied using computational fluid dynamics software Fluent. The results indicate that the primary to secondary air ratio in gas burner determines the combustion quality through influencing some parameters directly,...
متن کاملA flamelet model for premixed stretched flames
A mass-based stretch rate is introduced. Combining this stretch rate with the conservation equations for premixed flames gives a set of quasi-one-dimensional flamelet equations, which describe the structure and the mass burning rate of these flames. An integral analysis is applied to the flamelet equations and subsequently a general expression for the mass burning rate of stretched flames is de...
